Overview
In this Consultant Anaesthetist role, you will provide high-quality anaesthesia across a broad range of specialties within Kingston and Richmond Hospital. You will join a supportive, accreditation-driven department and contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to maintain excellence in patient care while engaging in national projects and departmental development. This is a meaningful opportunity to shape anaesthesia services in a busy district general hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality anaesthesia for a wide range of surgical specialties
- Support and contribute to departmental development and strategy
- Engage in quality improvement projects and audits
- Involve in teaching and training of undergraduates and junior doctors
- Participate in research and dissemination of findings
- Contribute to patient-focused care and multidisciplinary team activities
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- FRCA or equivalent
- CCT in Anaesthesia and on GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of CCT
- Wide range of anaesthetic experience (excluding cardiac and neurosurgery)
- Experience of emergency surgery in all ages (>2 years)
- Demonstrable commitment to teaching and training
- Leadership within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Enthusiasm and approachability
- Regional anaesthesia (desirable)
- Peri-operative medicine (desirable)
- Ophthalmic surgery, bariatric surgery, acute inpatient pain (desirable)
