Overview

In this role you will provide community paediatrics cover, working with multidisciplinary teams to assess, diagnose and manage developmental and neurodevelopmental needs in children. You will run clinics under consultant supervision and contribute to neurodevelopmental pathways and SEND planning. The post supports training and development with protected time for professional activities. You’ll help ensure high-quality, child-centered care across a rural NHS network and support education and governance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and manage paediatric patients with developmental, behavioural and complex health needs in community settings
  • Run community paediatric clinics under consultant supervision
  • Contribute to neurodevelopmental assessments for autism spectrum disorder
  • Undertake initial health assessments for looked after children and contribute to care planning
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide medical advice for SEND/EHCP
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to statutory documentation
  • Participate in clinical governance, audits, and service development
  • Support teaching, supervision, and CPD for junior colleagues

Key requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Completion of at least four years postgraduate experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and work effectively in teams
  • Decisiveness, accountability, and flexibility
  • Experience with clinical governance and audit
  • Willingness to work in a community paediatrics setting and travel as required
