Overview
Join our team as a Consultant in Acute Medicine at Ipswich Hospital. You will lead acute assessments and triage for all medical emergencies within the EAU, collaborating closely with colleagues and allied health professionals. This role emphasizes effective communication, teaching, and data-driven care, supported by Epic EPR implementation. You will contribute to patient flow, performance metrics, and service development in a busy NHS setting.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and train EAU junior staff
- Maintain databases and performance records of admissions and assessments
- Collaborate across departments and with medical and nursing colleagues
- Contribute to teaching of medical students and junior staff (including registrar teaching)
- Pursue specialist interests (e.g., FAMUS) and support professional development
- Coordinate acute patient assessment, triage, and management to ensure timely care
- Assist in achieving ED performance indicators
Key requirements
- Full GMC Specialist Register
- CCT in Acute Medicine or UK equivalent
- Experience of General/Acute Medicine with ability to offer expert clinical opinion
- Ability to take full independent responsibility for patient care
- Excellent communication skills
- Liaison with multidisciplinary teams
- Teaching and educational engagement
- Epic electronic patient record (EPR)
- Experience with data management and performance reporting
- FAMUS training (desirable)
