Overview
In this role you will lead patient flow and safety across two hospital sites, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to optimise admission and bed management. You will drive cross-site coordination, escalation, and timely transfers to maintain high performance against ED and 4-hour targets. You will shape the patient journey through strong leadership, communication, and adherence to policies. This is an opportunity to influence hospital operations at scale and improve patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in OPEL site meetings to report on operational pressures and take appropriate action
- Coordinate bed resources across sites and with external trusts, ensuring smooth transfers to tertiary centres
- Liaise with General Managers, Matrons, clinicians, and care teams to minimise waits and support patient flow
- Attend cardiac arrest calls and support arrest team as required
- Provide clear clinical leadership and decision-making to safeguard patient safety
- Work with ward staff to maintain live bed state and accurate site position
- Escalate to divisional managers as needed to maintain service continuity
- Participate in audit and quality projects to improve patient safety and experience
- Investigate and resolve complaints and escalate where appropriate
Key requirements
- Current registration with NMC
- Relevant degree or working towards equivalent
- Evidence of professional development
- Clinical leadership or ward/clinical area coordination experience
- Experience in site management and meeting key performance indicators
- Computer literacy and knowledge of NHS equality and diversity agenda
- ALS accredited
- Ability to work under pressure and lead across multiple teams
- Effective communication with multi-professional teams
