Overview
In this role you will support and develop a high-quality endoscopy service across two sites, delivering diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within a multidisciplinary team. You will perform five independent endoscopy lists weekly, contribute to training and supervision, and pursue Transnasal Endoscopy with mentorship. The role also involves governance, audit, and patient-centered care to enhance pathways for a large population. Responsibilities
- Undertake a minimum of five independent endoscopy lists per week (upper GI endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy) in line with JAG standards
- Develop competencies in Transnasal Endoscopy (TNE) with supervised training
- Provide day-to-day clinical supervision to Clinical Endoscopists
- Active participation in the JETS training programme and support for trainees
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient pathways
- Contribute to clinical audit, service improvement, and adherence to JAG standards
- Deliver patient-centred care with shared decision-making
- Maintain ongoing CPD and departmental teaching to align practice with national standards
Key requirements
- Full GMC recognised medical degree
- GMC Registration β Full registration with licence to practise
- Evidence of core medical training or equivalent
- JAG compliant certification in upper and lower GI endoscopy
- Demonstrable training and competence in diagnostic OGD and flexible sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy
- Willingness to undertake supervised training in TNE
- Experience supervising junior clinicians or trainees
- Experience performing independent endoscopy lists with KPIβs per JAG requirements
