Responsibilities

  • Clinical consultations (telephone and face-to-face)
  • Prescribing medications and treatments
  • Chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension, asthma) and care plan monitoring
  • Health promotion and disease prevention education
  • Emergency care in urgent situations
  • Team collaboration with nurses and support staff
  • Multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Administrative duties (records, meetings, training)
  • Professional development and CPD participation
  • Quality improvement and adherence to safety standards
  • Achieving QOF indicators at practice and PCN level

Key requirements

  • Medical degree from a recognised institution
  • GMC registration and GP Register inclusion
  • Postgraduate training in general practice (GPST)
  • MRCGP desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
