Overview
As a Consultant Psychiatrist within the Community Mental Health Team in Pembrokeshire, you will lead high-quality, evidence-based care across community and inpatient settings. You will shape future adult mental health services, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to teaching, audit, and service development. The role offers links to universities and opportunities for research and sub-specialty interests, all within a region known for quality of life. You will drive patient-centered care and innovations that improve outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Clinical leadership across community and inpatient services
- Delivering high-quality care in Adult General Psychiatry
- Leading and supporting the multidisciplinary team
- Contributing to teaching, training, and research activities
- Applying expertise in assessment, treatment, and community management
- Supporting medical students, junior doctors, and wider staff
- Participating in CPD, audit, and service improvement initiatives
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration and License to Practice
- On GMC Specialist Register or CCT due within six months (portfolio path/CESR or EC Rights)
- Section 12 Approval and AC Approved Clinician Status
- Valid Advanced Life Support
- Broad-based experience in the specialty and leadership of a team
- Understanding of clinical governance and involvement in clinical audit/quality improvement
- Willingness to teach across all staff groups
- Knowledge of current guidelines and research in the specialty
- Safeguarding knowledge and application of equality/diversity legislation
- Autonomy, flexibility, resilience under pressure, and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong interpersonal and team-working skills
- Ability to work autonomously and lead a team
