Overview
In this role you will strengthen the Emergency Department as a senior clinician guiding patient care and department operations. You will work within an expanding ED with a focus on service redesign and quality improvement to enhance patient outcomes. You will lead the department at night in collaboration with on-call consultants and support junior doctors through supervision and mentorship. The post supports CESR-led development, teaching, and simulation to advance emergency medicine practice. This opportunity offers clinical leadership, teaching, and involvement in a major redeveloped department with ongoing investments.

Responsibilities
- See new patients in the ED and provide on-site advice and supervision to junior doctors
- Be the doctor-in-charge of the department at night with consultant on-call from home after midnight
- Lead department management and ensure efficient patient flow
- Mentor and supervise CESR trainees; contribute to CPD and quality improvement projects
- Participate in teaching, simulation, and training activities for staff
- Engage in service redesign and future development initiatives
- Liaise with EM consultants and multidisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of care
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration
- Provider status in ATLS, APLS and ALS or equivalent (within reasonable time frame)
- MRCEM
- Four years postgraduate training/experience with at least 2 years in Emergency Medicine or relevant specialty
- Demonstrable NHS clinical experience
- CPD and ongoing commitment to professional development
- Active involvement in quality improvement (QI)
- Clinical leadership
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines
- Point of care ultrasound (POCUS)
- Ultrasound training/extended ultrasound experience (desirable)
- Simulation-based teaching and education
