Overview

In this role you partner with operational leaders to deliver the People Strategy and drive workforce performance. You lead on reducing sickness absence with data-driven interventions and support, while promoting an inclusive culture and wellbeing. You will advise across the full employee lifecycle and collaborate with Occupational Health, Wellbeing, and unions. You connect closely with on-site teams to influence people decisions and shape workforce outcomes. This is a high-impact, data-informed, people-focused role within a collaborative workforce team.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to execute the People Strategy and drive workforce performance
  • Lead absence reduction through data-driven interventions and early support
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health, Wellbeing, and Union reps
  • Provide expert advice across the employee lifecycle (ER, performance, change, development)
  • Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety
  • Design and deliver training on absence management and leadership capability
  • Utilise workforce data to shape strategic decisions and improve staff experience

Key requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 and above (Level 7 desirable)
  • Extensive HR experience in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Experience in unionised settings with effective consultation/negotiation
  • Line management or mentoring experience
  • Strong data-driven decision-making and HR metrics interpretation
  • Knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
  • Training and facilitation skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing
