Overview
Two Consultant posts in the Colorectal Department at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will join a team of colorectal consultants to deliver high-quality colorectal cancer care, participate in the emergency general surgery rota, and contribute to service development. One post focuses on IBD surgery, the other on anal cancer management as part of the regional centre. You will lead, teach, and collaborate with gastroenterology and MDTs to improve patient outcomes, research, and education.

Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, team-based patient care including ward rounds and on-call support
- Participate in the emergency general surgery rota and on-call/out-of-hours work
- Lead in clinical governance, audits, and NICE-guided practice
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; act as Educational Supervisor where agreed
- Support departmental and Trust-level meetings; engage in service development and quality improvement
- Promote research activity and CME/CPD; engage in annual job planning and appraisal
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, coordinated care
- Respond to complaints and incidents; participate in risk management and clinical audit topics
Key requirements
- General surgery training leading to CCT in general surgery
- Expert clinical opinion in colorectal problems (elective and emergency)
- Independent responsibility for patient care; validated colorectal operative experience
- Laparoscopic colorectal surgery training/experience; JAG colonoscopy accreditation desirable
- Full GMC registration; ongoing professional development; ability to supervise and teach
- Evidence of clinical governance, audit, and research involvement
- Strong communication (written and verbal)
