Overview
In this role you will provide expert benign upper GI surgical care within the Surgical Services division, contributing to the on-call rota and day-to-day patient management. You will perform benign upper GI procedures and support endoscopy services, collaborating with the existing UGI surgeon to cover emergencies and elective lists. The position supports the hospital’s Patient First mission and involves contributing to governance, teaching, and service development. Responsibilities
- Perform benign upper GI procedures and endoscopy as part of a two-surgeon team
- Participate in the on-call rota and weekend discussions for patient care
- Contribute to a 10 PA job plan including on-call and SPA commitments
- Engage in Mortality and Morbidity/Clinical Governance meetings
- Contribute to teaching, education, and managerial activities as part of the job plan
- Support the transformation and operational excellence initiatives within the Trust
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practice
- MRCP
- On the specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT/CESR
- General training in Geriatric Medicine to specialist level or equivalent
- Experience in teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates
- Experience in clinical audit
- Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills
