Overview
In this role you will lead a 21-bed specialist nursing home, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care through strong clinical governance and team development. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to support residents’ independence, dignity and meaningful outcomes. You’ll drive quality, compliance and service improvement, shaping practice and outcomes across the service. This is a values-led leadership role with a clear impact on residents, families and staff.

Responsibilities
- Provide strong, visible leadership across the service to foster a positive culture and high-quality care
- Champion clinical governance and evidence-based practice for complex needs
- Promote person-centred care, independence, and meaningful outcomes
- Strengthen multidisciplinary working among nursing, neuro-physiotherapy and enabling staff
- Develop a positive team culture with staff coaching, training and development
- Drive quality and improvement including regulatory compliance and QA
- Shape the service’s future with stakeholders and strategic direction
- Supervise and mentor Service Delivery Leaders and Team Leaders
- Manage staffing, on-call duties, and wellbeing of staff
- Oversee service delivery plans, budgets, KPIs, and contracts updates
- Ensure learning from audits and embedding improvements into policies
- Maintain effective external and internal communication and representing the service at events
- Participate in local networking and strategic projects with directors
- Promote Shaftesbury values and organisational objectives
- Prepare and review service improvement plans and governance activities
- Ensure accurate management accounts and variances analysis
- Oversee safeguarding and regulatory requirements
- Conduct staff meetings and identify training needs
Key requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Current UK professional registration
- Experience of leading a care home/service with regulatory compliance responsibility
- Able to perform Disclosure and Barring Service checks
- Ability to develop and monitor budgets, KPIs and governance calendars
- Experience with self-assessment audits and quality assurance processes
- Contracting experience to re-assess care needs and new contracts when required
