Overview
In this Ward Host Supervisor role, you will lead a ward catering service across Frimley Park Hospital, ensuring high-quality meals, hygiene, and patient care. You’ll manage and develop a team, collaborate with ward teams to meet nutritional needs, and drive patient satisfaction in a healthcare setting. You’ll work closely with the Food Service Manager to maintain service standards and implement improvements. This NHS role offers meaningful impact through enhancing the patient mealtime experience.

Responsibilities
- Support the Food Service Manager in delivering a professional ward catering service
- Supervise, motivate and support Ward Hosts to maintain service standards, cleanliness and hygiene
- Develop positive relationships with ward teams to enhance patient mealtime experience and nutritional support
- Promote excellent customer care ensuring privacy, dignity and respect
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality and contribute to continuous improvement
- Maintain awareness of menu content, allergens and portion control
- Ensure food is presented and served to high standards in line with procedures and food safety regulations
- Monitor food quality, temperatures and service standards via audits and feedback
- Support HACCP procedures including hygiene checks within responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve complaints professionally per procedures and escalate when needed
- Collaborate with Catering and Hotel Services to improve service delivery
- Act as a positive ambassador for the Catering Department and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust
Key requirements
- Supervisory experience within catering, hospitality or food service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised, proactive, able to lead a team effectively
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and customer service standards
- Passionate about delivering an excellent patient experience
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a busy healthcare environment
- Good IT skills
- Experience of managing 50+ catering team in a patient-facing environment
- Customer care experience
- Must be able to work and travel between sites when necessary
- NVQ Supervisory Certificate or equivalent; Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene
