Overview
In this role you will lead and develop a high-quality DIEP breast reconstruction service within a well-established oncoplastic team. You’ll work as part of a regional network to expand access, improve outcomes, and embed enhanced recovery pathways. The role combines clinical leadership with multidisciplinary collaboration to deliver exceptional patient care across a broad geographic area. Responsibilities
- Lead and consolidate the DIEP reconstruction service
- Develop and expand regional breast reconstruction pathways
- Collaborate within a high-performing oncoplastic MDT and multidisciplinary teams
- Promote and sustain enhanced recovery pathways (discharge by day 3 or earlier)
- Provide expert microsurgical input and oversee patient care across the reconstruction journey
- Engage reconstructive specialist nurses to ensure continuity of care
- Contribute to service planning and regional outreach through referrals from multiple centres
- Support the integration of services across associated specialties within the Trust
Key requirements
- Specialist interest/expertise in microvascular breast reconstruction (DIEP)
- Strong clinical and team-working skills
- Experience leading or developing surgical services
- Commitment to MDT-based, patient-centered care
- Willingness to lead in a regional, cross-site context
- UK NHS experience preferred (implied)
