Overview
In this Consultant in Clinical Oncology role, you will deliver patient-focused cancer care with a specialist interest in breast cancer, and an additional preference for thyroid cancer. You will join a collaborative Oncology team, contribute to education, supervision, and research, and help drive service improvement across Eastern (Exeter) and Northern services. You’ll work within an MDT, benefit from state-of-the-art equipment, and have opportunities to shape cancer care and training within the Peninsula network.

Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care in breast and thyroid cancers within a multidisciplinary team
- Engage in education, supervision, and training of trainees and junior doctors
- Contribute to research activities and recruit into NCRI and commercial studies
- Participate in service improvement and leadership initiatives
- Work on-call and provide telephone advice on a 1 in 18 rota
- Collaborate with regional teams to deliver high-quality cancer services
- Utilise and champion advanced radiotherapy technologies (e.g., SGRT)
- Support development of pathology and diagnostic capabilities with new facilities
Key requirements
- Current UK professional registration
- Specialist interest in breast cancer; thyroid cancer preferred
- Experience in clinical oncology within an NHS or equivalent setting
- Willingness to participate in teaching, supervision, and research
- Ability to work within an MDT and across sites (Exeter/Northern Devon)
