Overview
In this role you lead the Labour Ward during designated periods, delivering consultant-led obstetric care and safeguarding patient safety.
You will drive the development and delivery of multidisciplinary simulation training to improve outcomes and team performance in high‑risk scenarios.
You will work within a supportive Obstetrics and Gynaecology team, shaping care delivery and training at PAHT.
This position offers leadership in a busy maternity unit and opportunities to advance simulation-based teaching and patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Lead Labour Ward management during designated hot weeks
- Provide consultant-led obstetric care during hot weeks with other duties suspended
- Ensure emergency gynaecology cover is provided by another consultant
- Develop and enhance the simulation training program for multidisciplinary teams
- Lead and participate in management of complex obstetric cases in the delivery suite
- Contribute to general obstetrics and gynaecology clinics, theatres, and simulation-based teaching programs
- Key requirements
- Full GMC registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence confirmed by GMC by AAC date)
- Must be expecting to receive CCT within six months to be eligible for interview or already on GMC Specialist Register
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within 6 months
- RCOG ATSM or similar in Labour ward
- Experience in Simulation Training lead or PROMPT training
