Main duties of the job

  • Participate in the 24-hour pre-hospital rota across both EHAAT airbases.
  • Contribute to research, audit, and quality improvement projects during designated base days.
  • Attend weekly Death & Disability meetings and monthly Team Inset/Clinical Governance days.
  • Support the development and implementation of service initiatives, clinical and non-clinical protocols, and regularly review existing policies.
  • Deliver education and training to clinical and non-clinical staff within and outside EHAAT, including paramedics and medical students undertaking electives or special study modules.
  • Liaise with external agencies to support collaborative working and represent EHAAT at charity, fundraising, media, and community engagement events.

Our aim is to save lives, reduce or prevent disability, or suffering from critical illness and injury, by delivering a first class pre-hospital emergency medical service to the people of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. Our highly skilled and specially trained pre-hospital care doctors and critical care paramedics work alongside our regional partners using helicopters and rapid response vehicles fitted with state-of-the-art life-saving equipment. Our critical care teams are dispatched by the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. We are here to assist everyone who lives, works, or is travelling through the region. The service is provided by the Charity free of charge to patients of all ages, from every background and faith, who require the most advanced clinical care.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Essential
    • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
    • MBBS or equivalent
    • Must be ST4+ (or equivalent demonstrable experience)
    • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience
    • 6 months experience in Anaesthesia with completion of Royal College of Anaesthetists Initial Assessment of competency (IAC) or equivalent demonstrable experience
    • 6 months Emergency Medicine or equivalent experience
  • Desirable
    • FRCA, FREM, FFICM or equivalent
    • Higher degree (PhD, MD) in relevant field
    • BSc / MSc, in Pre-hospital Medicine, Resuscitation Medicine, Trauma science, or similar related field
    • FIMC, DipIMC, DipRTM or equivalent
    • Higher diploma / degree in Medical Education / Medical Simulation / Healthcare Management & Leadership or similar (or demonstration of progress towards)
