We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and highly motivated HCPC registered biomedical scientist who is professional, reliable and flexible to join our Cellular Pathology team at this busy NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will be based within the Histopathology department at King's Mill Hospital, rotating through sections of routine Histopathology, Non-gynae Cytology, Andrology and Immunohistochemistry and requires occasional travel to Newark Hospital, where we have a satellite laboratory.

The Department has full UKAS accreditation and HCPC/IBMS training status and CPD participation is actively encouraged. The laboratory currently opens weekdays only, but candidates must have the flexibility to work 5 out of 7 days per week if required. The payment scheme is in line with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

You will be based within the UKAS 15189:2022 accredited Pathology Department at King's Mill Hospital with HCPC/IBMS training status; the department is currently in the process of developing a collaborative working relationship with neighbouring Trusts. This is an exciting time for the department and we are developing our continuous improvement culture to ensure delivery of outstanding healthcare for our patients.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge: Relevant theoretical / practical / scientific knowledge to underpin the technical aspect of a laboratory service.
  • Qualifications: HCPC registered as a biomedical scientist. Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent acceptable by HCPC.
  • Desirable: IT skills.
  • Skills/Attributes: Ability to organise work and meet deadlines, good technical and communication skills, ability to troubleshoot technical problems, ability to contribute to effective team working, data input skills, high levels of accuracy, IT Skills.
  • Experience: Specialist training in a clinical laboratory (Histopathology).
  • Contractual Requirements: Full time hours are 37.5 hours per week, working 5 out of 7 days (and equivalent for part time hours).
