Overview
As a GP Consultant at St James Surgery, you lead clinical excellence within a warm, multidisciplinary team in Dover. You will provide on-site leadership, support GP/ACP workforce development, and partner with local health and social care providers to deliver safe, patient-centred care. You’ll contribute to quality improvement and engage with local and national initiatives to sustain high-quality primary care. Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and oversight of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
- Be a visible, on-site clinical leader offering advice and support to all staff groups
- Lead on GP and ACP-related incidents, complaints, and significant event analysis
- Oversee recruitment, induction, appraisals, and CPD for GPs and ACPs/ANPs
- Ensure robust clinical governance, audits, and policy development
- Coordinate safeguarding processes and high standards of documentation
- Support clinic operations, including scheduling, recruiting locums, and supervising non-medical prescribers
- Engage in central governance, policy implementation, and liaison with PCNs and external partners
- Coordinate clinical administrative work and participate in projects such as video-linked consultations
- Prescribe according to guidelines and maintain GMC standards
- Participate in data collection, audits, and QOF/Enhanced Service targets
Key requirements
- Qualified General Practitioner (CCT)
- On performers list and not suspended
- Current BLS and Safeguarding certification
- Current Hep B Immunity certificate
- Understanding of NHS and primary care in urgent/community settings
- Ability to manage emergencies and make appropriate referrals
- UK professional registration in good standing
- Discretionary: DFSRFH, coil insertion competence, GPWSI, minor surgery skills
- Strong leadership and team management
- Excellent communication and listening skills

- EMIS or equivalent clinical systems
