Consultant Dermatologist in Dorking

Join a forward-thinking dermatology service delivering high-quality care closer to patients' homes. We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Dermatologist to become part of our established multidisciplinary team of 10 clinicians, providing expert care across adult and paediatric dermatology, skin cancer pathways, minor surgery and specialist dermatology services. You will work closely with local NHS Trusts and participate in relevant MDTs, helping to provide seamless, integrated patient care.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop a growing service while maintaining an active clinical role. Alongside delivering consultant-led clinics, you will contribute to teaching and supervision, supporting GPwERs, GPwSIs, trainees and medical students within a supportive learning environment. You will also have opportunities to lead service development, quality improvement and clinical audit activities.

We welcome applicants who are GMC Specialist Registered in Dermatology, with experience in both adult and paediatric dermatology, excellent clinical judgement and a passion for patient-centred care. The role offers a flexible job plan with no on-call commitments. Clinics are delivered across our outpatient sites, with working patterns and sessional commitments agreed as part of job planning. Potential working days may span Monday to Saturday.

Main duties of the job include:

• Delivering consultant-led dermatology services to NHS patients within busy clinics set at Outpatient sites.
• Assessing and managing a broad range of adult and paediatric dermatological conditions.
• Undertaking skin lesion assessment and minor surgical procedures.
• Contributing to skin cancer pathways and participating in MDT discussions with local NHS Trust colleagues.
• Supporting the development of future clinicians through the supervision of GPs with Extended Roles (GPwERs), GPs with Specialist Interests (GPwSIs), trainees and medical students.
• Contributing to teaching, clinical audit, quality improvement and service development.

We are seeking a GMC Specialist Registered Dermatologist with broad experience across both adult and paediatric dermatology. You'll be an experienced clinician with excellent diagnostic and decision-making skills, a commitment to evidence-based practice and a patient-centred approach to care.

The post holder must adhere to standards as outlined by the GMC for Good Medical Practice. Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities. To provide a full range of dermatological services to NHS patients referred into DHC's Dermatology Outpatients service.

Offer procedures such as cryotherapy, injections and surgical intervention as appropriate. Arrange investigation, offer management plans for GP implementation or to offer follow-up or onward referral to secondary care as needed. Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.

Maintain adequate and timely records of consultations, investigations, prescribing and procedures using the clinical system and its templates. Complete computerised outcome letters to the referring clinician/patient/carer and liaise with the administration team to ensure that letters reach them.

To maintain clinical competence and exercise awareness of professional responsibilities by reading current relevant literature and undertaking opportunities for personal and professional development in accordance with the requirements of the GMC. Attend or participate in regular brief administrative and clinical meetings with colleagues.

Demonstrate, model and encourage DHC values at all times to all patients and staff. Support training and development needs of GPs with an extended specialist role (GPwSI and GPwER). Supporting training of other clinical staff working as part of the dermatology team.

Ensure that your own and other relevant clinicians' mandatory training and other applicable training records and accreditation are kept updated.
