Overview
In this role you will provide inpatient and outpatient urology services within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to high-quality patient outcomes. You will train and supervise trainees, take part in clinical governance and audits, and develop sub-special interests to advance the department. The post offers on-call duties on a 1:7 rota and opportunities to shape service development within the Trust’s mission to deliver outstanding care for the community.

Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and outpatient urology services
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, clinical nurse specialists)
- Contribute to training and supervision of trainees and other staff
- Carry out appraisals and assessments of medical staff
- Develop special interests to enhance the department
- Engage in CPD and clinical governance activities
- Participate in audit and Care Group activities
- On-call rota 1:7 with prospective cover for urology patients
- Support development of the urology service
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice
- CCT or on Specialist Register OR anticipated within 6 months of interview; CESR or European rights acceptable
- 5 years clinical Urology experience at SPR or equivalent
- Ability to cope with the demands of a DGH-based Consultant
- Evidence of leadership, service development and team-working
- Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and research principles
- Teaching experience and ability to communicate effectively
- General management skills and NHS organisational knowledge

- independent core Urology procedures: TURP, TURBT, DSU lists, Flexible and rigid URS laser
- experience with advanced BPH procedures (REZUM, HoLEP) desirable
- Urodynamics studies
