As a Divisional Director of Operations for Clinical Administration, you will steer the Trust-wide Clinical Administration Division, ensuring efficient booking pathways, ward administration, MDT coordination, and related services that underpin high-quality patient care. You will provide strategic and operational leadership, drive service improvement, and monitor performance against access standards, while developing the workforce. This role blends transformational change with a patient-focused approach and alignment to the Trust’s values of compassion, excellence, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Trust-wide Clinical Administration functions to drive improvement and optimise patient care pathways.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to uphold high standards of care, outcomes and experience; manage workforce, finances and capacity planning to meet targets.
  • Foster team development and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align system-wide goals.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior management and deputise for the Deputy Chief Operating Officer when needed.

Key requirements

  • Substantial senior-level experience in an acute or specialist hospital setting with a solid understanding of NHS performance and governance for acute trusts.
  • Track record of delivering operational performance, service redesign and continuous improvement.
  • Strong financial management, including budgeting, cost control and NHS costing.
  • Experience in implementing performance management systems and managing contracts and departmental performance indicators.
  • Proven negotiation and influence skills with the ability to address underperformance.
  • Experience leading complex change programs with focus on patient experience and staff engagement.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data and translate it for clinical teams.
  • Experience in developing business cases for capital and revenue investment.
  • Ability to manage within a complex organisation and balance multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of clinical and business information systems.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
