Overview
You will lead the ENT/Audiology and OMFS Directorate, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within the Surgical Care Group. You’ll drive improvement and transformational change, aligning clinical governance, performance targets, and budget with strategic objectives. This role involves cross-functional leadership across Clinical Directors, Matrons, and Care Group teams, with a clear focus on quality, safety, and patient experience. Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership to the Directorate in partnership with Clinical Director and Matrons
- Ensure delivery of quality, activity, and financial targets
- Manage income and expenditure and monitor performance against targets
- Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and governance processes consistent with Trust standards
- Lead service redesign, transformation, and clinical strategy development
- Oversee recruitment, induction, appraisal, training, and workforce planning for non-clinical staff and support medical staffing considerations
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and deliver on workforce planning and rota management
- Support quality improvement, risk management, and incident reporting within the Directorate
- Prepare business cases and participate in pricing, costing, and funding bids
- Collaborate with Care Group and Trust teams on capacity planning and efficiency initiatives
- Contribute to external reviews, inspections (CQC, cancer peer reviews), and governance
- Participate in the Trust on-call rota and handle internal grievances as required
Key requirements
- Senior management experience in an acute NHS setting
- Record of delivering performance targets and service redesign
- Financial management experience including efficiencies and budgeting
- Proven ability to work with clinical teams and drive cross-functional collaboration
- Knowledge of NHS financial flows, HR practices, and governance
- First degree or professional qualification in management; management qualification preferred
- Experience with workforce planning, job design, and rota management
- Understanding of CQC, national strategies, and clinical governance agenda
- Willingness to travel between sites and participate in on-call duties
- Discretion with on-going professional development and openness to improvement initiatives
