We are looking to recruit either a Specialty Doctor, CESR or Specialist Doctor who is keen to be part of a progressive, innovative and dynamic team who is keen to work to improve patient care. Main duties of the job:
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of emergency services.
- Shared responsibility for the day to day management of the clinical areas.
- Responsible for providing high quality leadership and effective team working.
- Teaching and training of junior doctors, nurses and other staff.
- Responsible for active participation in continuing medical education.
- Participate in audit and quality assurance processes.

The department is made up of a multi-disciplinary team of medical consultants, general practitioners, resident doctors, physicians associates, nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, management, and administrative staff who all work together to provide a safe, effective and caring environment to meet the medical needs of the local population.
We have an increasing cohort of consultants with a broad range of interests to include search and rescue, dive medicine, research and development and expedition medicine.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications & Training:
- Essential: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, Full registration with GMC, with licence to practice and permitting work as a Senior Doctor in Emergency Medicine.
- Specialty Doctor - 4 years full time (or equivalent part time) post grad training, at least 2 years worked in Emergency Medicine (including relevant overseas work).
- OR Specialist Doctor - 12 years post-grad full time (or equivalent), at least 5-years working in Emergency Medicine (including relevant overseas work).
- ATLS, ALS, APLS or PALS certification, or a commitment to attend these courses within 6 months of appointment.
- Knowledge & Experience:
- Essential: Evidence of participation in audit, and an ongoing willingness to be involved in the audit programme of the department.
- Specific Skills:
- Essential: Commitment to incorporating research and audit into day to day working, Ability to teach clinical skills, Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems.
