Overview
In this role you will provide expert HR advisory support within a busy NHS environment, focusing on sickness absence management and complex employee relations. You will build strong relationships with managers, advise on investigations, and deliver targeted training and coaching on HR processes. Based at Pinewood House with some travel, you will drive early resolutions and support organisational change. You will work with cross-functional teams to promote excellent, compliant people practice and staff wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Coach and facilitate leadership development for managers
- Design and deliver bespoke training interventions
- Support management teams to improve people-practice and management capabilities
- Partner with Strategy, OD and Improvement Team to enhance culture and engagement
- Advise on change management and TUPE transfers with workforce data
- Support workforce systems implementation (e-rostering, job planning)
- Assist managers with policy implementation and HR procedures
- Provide guidance on performance, absence management and informal ER issues
- Minimise escalation to formal processes and support ER/Investigation Team
- Attend sickness meetings/hearings and assist in sickness absence cases
- Advise on Freedom to Speak Up / Whistleblowing, case resolution
- Produce and monitor sickness absence statistics and analyse trends
- Monitor ER reports and implement lessons learned
- Keep up-to-date with employment legislation and best practice
- Support policy development and service design improvements
- Support Recruitment and exit interviews with metrics
- Participate in selection panels when required
- Ensure data-driven HR practices across Directorate
Key requirements
- CIPD Level 7 or equivalent experience (or due to fully complete this year)
- Current CIPD registration
- Experience in an operational HR environment
- Experience of advising on Employee Relations issues
- Knowledge of employment law and interpretation of terms and conditions of employment
- Excellent communication skills
- Analytical with risk identification and problem-solving
- Customer-focused and driven to high standards
- Knowledge of employment law
- Experience with HR information systems (electronic staff record; workforce information)
- Experience with e-rostering and job planning systems
