Overview

In this Consultant Psychiatrist role, you will provide specialist inpatient care on a 19-bed acute ward as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will lead psychiatric assessment, treatment, ward rounds and teaching, contributing to clinical governance and service improvement. The post supports research, education and the development of your own clinical interests within a supportive trust culture. You join a network of consultants with strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation and outstanding patient care. Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment to inpatients
  • Lead ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for detained patients under the Mental Health Act
  • Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training
  • Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
  • Support research, education, or special interests as part of role

Key requirements

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with licence to practise at appointment
  • MRCPsych or equivalent additional clinical qualifications (desirable)
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within 3 months
  • UK driving licence or alternative arrangement
  • Excellent knowledge in specialty and strong bio-psycho-social clinical skills
  • Ability to deliver undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and work in a team
