Overview
In this role you will help expand Echocardiographic services (TOE and stress echo), take a lead on echo governance and education, and develop Cardiac MRI and CT services (including CT FFR and TAVI CT). You will work within a Trust-wide cardiology team to improve quality and access across multiple sites. The position combines clinical care with education, governance and service development to strengthen regional cardiac imaging expertise. This is a mission-driven opportunity to shape advanced imaging provision and patient care across the trust.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop echocardiography services, including TOE and stress echo, with emphasis on governance and quality.
- Develop Cardiac MRI services and expand stress MRI provision, enhancing regional education in MR.
- Develop and expand Cardiac CT services, including CT FFR and consolidation of the TAVI CT service.
- Provide direct clinical care as part of NSECH on-call, ward cover, clinics, imaging, diagnostics and procedures.
- Collaborate with a Trust-wide cardiology team; participate in MDTs and ensure alignment with national guidance.
- Support education and research activities where applicable.
Key requirements
- Clinical training and experience in cardiology at level consistent with UK CCT entry.
- Full GMC Registration and Royal College accreditation; eligible for Specialist Register within 6 months of CCT.
- Experience in teaching medical staff (undergraduate and postgraduate) and commitment to medical audit.
- Lifelong learning mindset and ability to work in a high-volume, acute care environment.
- Desirable: ALS; evidence of audit management and educational qualifications.
