Overview
In this role you will support high-quality, safe endoscopy care across the patient pathway within CHEC's community hospital network. You collaborate with the Lead Endoscopy Practitioner and Hospital Manager to ensure efficient procedures and patient dignity. You may train across CHEC sites to broaden experience and contribute to ongoing accreditation efforts. This position offers a balanced pattern with flexible shifts and a focus on patient outcomes and service improvement.
Responsibilities
- Prepare clinical areas and equipment per infection control protocols
- Participate in patient admissions, obtain baseline observations, and request sedation when competent
- Assist the Endoscopist with instrument prep, scope handling, patient positioning, and safety/dignity
- Help ensure endoscopy lists run smoothly according to CHEC SOPs
- Participate in CQC and JAG accreditation and continuing competency training via the JETs framework
- Provide direct assistance during procedures and monitor patients during sedation
- Monitor recovery area and deliver post-procedure care including vital signs and discharge instructions
Key requirements
- Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Desire for ongoing training and professional development
- Ideally experience in an endoscopy unit (procedure room and recovery)
- Commitment to excellent patient care and positive teamwork
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced, patient-centred environment
- Proactive and flexible approach to service improvement
