Overview
In this role you will provide visionary leadership for the Care Group within Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, shaping strategic direction with the Clinical Director and Senior Matron. You will drive integrated clinical, operational and financial performance, delivering patient-focused services and meeting national access targets. You will lead transformation across operational excellence, financial stewardship and people development, while forging key partnerships. This is an opportunity to influence care delivery at scale in a large NHS trust and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

- Band 8c salary (£79,504–£91,609 per annum)
Responsibilities
- Direct the Care Group's performance across operational, financial and clinical domains
- Ensure achievement of national/local access targets and operational objectives (e.g., RTT, Cancer Pathways) and implement the 7/7 working strategy
- Lead budgeting, efficiency savings, annual budget setting, and long-term financial stability
- Develop and drive the Division's strategy, business cases for service development, and continuous quality improvement
- Provide visible leadership for staff development, teamwork and a culture of personal responsibility
- Ensure compliance with the Trust's Assurance Framework and risk standards
- Represent the Care Group to local partners and integrate best practices into the Trust
- Participate in the Trust on-call rota and weekend work as required
Key requirements
- Significant experience in strategic and operational NHS/public sector roles
- Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and people management
- Track record in performance and budget management with target achievement for multiple clinical specialties
- Experience in business planning and development of business cases
- Experience leading complex operational change and project management with emphasis on quality
- Degree level education and postgraduate qualification
