b Overview /b p In this Consultant role, you will contribute to a reimagined infection service at Royal Cornwall Hospital, focusing on clinical liaison, inpatient ID care, and antimicrobial stewardship. You will work within the clinical microbiology department to enhance patient care, teaching, and research across the peninsula. The position emphasizes expanding infectious disease and microbiology expertise, with opportunities to develop special interests and lead MDT collaboration. You will drive high-quality infection management and support laboratory and public health liaison in a regional network. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Provide expert advice on investigation and management of infections /li li Conduct inpatient ID consults and contribute to bacteraemia rounds /li li Support day-to-day operations of the diagnostic laboratory /li li Deliver IPAC and antimicrobial stewardship support /li li Liaise with health protection teams and participate in out-of-hours cover (1:4 rota) /li li Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching for the Peninsula Medical School /li li Support specialist MDTs and contribute to special interests /li li Develop and lead within antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control initiatives /li li Contribute to future services across the Devon and Cornwall Peninsula /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li GMC registration with licence to practice /li li On the specialist register for Infectious diseases or Medical Microbiology /li li Within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at time of interview /li /ul ul li Excellent teamworking /li li Desirable leadership and quality improvement experience /li li Antimicrobial stewardship /li li Infection prevention and control (IPAC) /li li Outpatient antibiotic support /li li Rapid access infectious disease services /li /ul
