We are excited to be able to advertise a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership to the Inpatient Recovery Units based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This is a post vacated by a retiring Consultant Psychiatrist. Honeybourne Recovery Unit (10 beds) and Laurel House Recovery Unit (13 beds) are stand-alone facilities located on the St Paul's campus in Cheltenham. The majority of patients will have a psychotic illness as the primary diagnoses and range of stays between 6 to 18 months. The job will entail acting as the responsible clinician to the patients. This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are 10 sessions per week (1 in 20 on-call).
Main duties of the job

- Working with the MDT to devise comprehensive clinical management plan for the rehabilitation of the patients within the service.
- The role also includes managerial aspects such as supervision of specialty doctor and any trainees.

- QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- Essential: Basic Medical Qualification GMC registered. On GMC Specialist Register, or eligible for such inclusion. Specialist Registrars within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview. Approved Clinician/S12 approval or eligibility for approval.
- Desirable: MRCPsych. Training or experience in inpatients, crisis, AOT and/or substance misuse psychiatry.
- WORK EXPERIENCE
- Essential: Higher specialist training or extensive UK experience in acute psychiatry.
- Desirable: Experience of 'Recovery' working at consultant or advance trainee level.
- SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Essential: Understanding of wider NHS context and recent policy developments.
- Desirable: Management, Audit, Research or Business experience.
- PERSONAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES
- Essential: Effective leadership, Good interpersonal skills, Commitment to supervising junior staff.
