This post provides senior clinical input to the SWR EIP team on 4 days a week, including 2 PAs of SPA time which can be, by agreement, worked from home if the post holder remains available to provide urgent and emergency clinical support to the team if needed. 2 SPA represents the pro-rata equivalent of the College recommendation. The expectations of the role include supporting the wider Adult Mental Health service with its yearly objectives and the wider medical workforce including postgraduate doctors and medical students.
This is an established multi-disciplinary team, utilising the expertise of doctors, nurses, nurse associates, family therapists, IPS workers, psychologists, social workers and support workers, and currently accommodates a post-graduate doctor (core trainee). The team works with people aged 14-65 and offers a three-year pathway for First Episode Psychosis (FEP). The team uses the CAARMS (Comprehensive assessment of at risk mental states) tool when doing assessments in order to establish which pathway an individual requires. When an ARMS need (at risk mental state) is identified, patients are seen by generic integrated care teams.
The service strives to meet the standards of care within the evidence base of providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for psychosis (CBTp), Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT), Working with Carers, Physical Health Monitoring (inclusive of monitoring and reviewing medication) and Employment support.
Main duties of the job include:
- Supporting initiatives within the EIP pathway.
- Attending leadership meetings and playing an active role in formulations and complex care sessions.
- Focusing clinical workload on the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale population.
- Providing insight and direction into complex case work; contributing to the overarching formulation of patient care and planning within the scope of Multi-disciplinary Team approach.
- Offering senior advice and support in the assessment, formulation, diagnosis and management of presenting conditions.
- Involvement in outpatient clinics, review meetings and Mental Health Act-related work.
- Managing a direct clinical workload centred on one new patient clinic a week (average 2 patients) and one follow-up clinic a week (average 6 patients).
The team currently has a caseload of 85 patients.
