Overview

In this role you will support the Maxillofacial unit within a regional centre for Head and Neck Cancer, Cleft, Craniofacial and Skull Base Surgery. You will help run clinics and theatres across multiple sites and collaborate with ENT and Plastics to maintain services. You will work with a specialist team in orthognathic, oral surgery and trauma, contributing to service recovery and development. This is a high-impact post within a large NHS foundation trust with a strong commitment to inclusive, values-driven leadership. You will have a clear, meaningful hook in shaping services for cancer care and complex craniofacial surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in running clinics and theatres at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, City Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital
  • Support the orthognathic surgery service and routine oral surgery commitments at City Hospital
  • Attend monthly multidisciplinary orthognathic clinics at Birmingham Dental Hospital & Good Hope Hospital
  • Participate in an on-call emergency rota (1:13 weeks)
  • Contribute to efficient service delivery with local managers and colleagues
  • Adhere to hospital policies, standing orders, financial instructions and the Trust Infection Control Policy
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development as per Royal College of Surgeons criteria
  • Participate in Administrative/Audit/Teaching/Research activities; monthly audit meetings

Key requirements

  • Dental degree
  • Medical degree
  • Full GMC registration as a Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • UK-based NHS experience
  • Fellowship training in OMFS paediatric and craniofacial surgery
  • Orthognathic surgery
