Job summaryConsultant Ophthalmologist with special interest in PaediatricsBetsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are looking to recruit a Substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Paediatrics although general clinics and cataract lists are included. The post holder should become involved in all aspects of the department's work including teaching, audit, elective, and trauma care.The post holder is expected to be well experienced with cataract surgeries, including complex cases. The post holder should also have expertise in emergency ophthalmic procedures, laser treatments, intraocular and periocular trauma and endophthalmitis, ROP screening, strabismus, amblyopia and congenital management.As part of the recruitment process, candidates shortlisted for the role will be invited to attend both a Stakeholder Interview and an Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) Interview. AAC is scheduled for 23rd October 2026. The Stakeholder Interview date will be confirmed once shortlisting is complete. This is expected to be held week commencing 19th October 2026.Main duties of the jobGeneral DutiesSupervise and manage the work of Specialty Doctors and specialist nursing staff working within the department.Participate in the education and training of medical students, nurses, paramedics, general practitioners, and other appropriate personnel.The post holder is expected to participate in regional and national research.
