Overview
As a Consultant Working Age Community Psychiatrist, you will lead community-based care for outpatients in Ashton-under-Lyne within the North CMHT. You’ll shape clinical leadership for the MDT, manage complex cases, and guide evidence-based treatment. You’ll participate in weekly referral discussions and drive service development in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. This role offers an opportunity to influence care delivery at scale within a respected regional NHS trust.

Responsibilities
- Provide community care to outpatients in Ashton-under-Lyne
- Collaborate with the North CMHT and MDTs
- Assume clinical leadership in the MDT and overall team functioning
- Manage complex cases including care plans and treatment formulations
- Guide evidence-based treatment and clinical effectiveness
- Lead decisions on referrals for the sector and attend weekly referral meetings
Key requirements
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months
- Valid UK driving licence or alternative
- Excellent knowledge in specialty and broad clinical skills
- Commitment to CPD, teaching, and audit
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Decision making grounded in evidence and experience
