Overview
In this role, you will lead and contribute to the mental health care of mentally disordered offenders at Rampton Hospital. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, treat, and oversee care pathways, with a 20-patient caseload and potential for an academic session. You will support governance, training, and service development, collaborating with external agencies and justice authorities. This is a high-responsibility position in a secure setting that shapes patient outcomes and service quality.

Responsibilities
- Assess individuals referred for admission or seeking expert opinion at Rampton Hospital and travel to related sites as needed
- Act as Care Programme Approach Co-ordinator and oversee treatment
- Chair clinical team meetings and lead the MDT, CPA meetings, and governance processes
- Provide timely reports to Tribunals, Hospital Managers, Ministry of Justice, Courts, etc.
- Coordinate liaison with medium secure units, prisons, commissioners and the Ministry of Justice regarding patient care pathways
- Convene and chair Section 117 meetings
- Engage in personal development and annual appraisal; undertake professional supervision as appropriate
- Contribute to supervision and training of team members and beyond
- Comply with Trust policies including child protection and safeguarding; adhere to statutory guidelines
- Undertake clinical audits and contribute to service development under Clinical Director
Key requirements
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Fully registered with the GMC with licence to practise at appointment
- CCT/CCST or eligibility for Specialist Register in Forensic Psychiatry
- Approved Clinician status
- Section 12(2) approval
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Experience in high secure hospital settings (desirable)
- Valid UK driving licence or proposed alternative
