This is an appointment for a substantive Consultant in Heart Failure for Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the Heart Failure Service at the Royal Brompton Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital, providing high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with acute and chronic heart failure, including those with advanced heart failure and complex cardiac conditions. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to support inpatient and outpatient services, participate in specialist heart failure clinics and multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to service improvement, education, clinical governance, and research, helping to maintain the Trust's reputation as a leading centre for cardiovascular excellence.

The HLCC HF strategy is to deliver a single, integrated Heart Failure service across GST, RBH and HH, providing consistent, high-quality, evidence-based care while maintaining each site's specialist expertise through strong cross-site leadership and local operational ownership. Heart Failure is a Care Group managed within the Heart Directorate at the Royal Brompton Hospital, the Cardiovascular Directorate at Guy's and St Thomas', and Heart and Lung Directorate at Harefield Hospital. The three directorates include Anaesthesia, Critical Care, Catheter Labs, Theatres, and a number of Care Groups, of which Heart Failure is one, alongside Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, Structural Heart, Revascularisation, Arrhythmias, Heart Assessment and Inherited Cardiac Conditions.

Heart Failure services are intricately linked with other Care Groups and services within the Trust, referring hospitals and the community, including inherited cardiac conditions, structural heart disease, arrhythmias, and the developing cardiogenic shock programme, including strong links to our durable circulatory support and transplantation service at Harefield.
