Overview
In this role you support the NHS Pension Scheme by conducting independent compliance reviews and ensuring regulatory alignment.
You will work within the Compliance Team to interpret legislation, investigate issues, and drive improvements that improve service to NHS staff and pension scheme members.
You will engage with colleagues, customers, and external parties on complex, sometimes contentious, matters, delivering timely reports and recommendations.

Responsibilities
- Undertake duties with minimal guidance.
- Meet deadlines set by the Compliance Team Manager, Head of Service and Pensions Board.
- Log and report time and work in control logs for auditability.
- Provide timely management information to various parts of the business.
- Perform horizon sweeping to understand changes in NHS Pension Scheme regulations and overriding legislation.
- Carry out independent compliance reviews of NHS Pension Scheme administration (service delivery, payroll, technical, finance).
- Collate outcomes of reviews into compliance reports for management review.
- Recommend business improvements across all review aspects.
- Identify non-compliant areas and quantify time-bound rectifications.
- Interrogate diverse pension administration software packages.
- Independently research legislation, guidance, SLAs, processes, and documentation for reviews.
- Possibly deputise for Compliance Manager when needed.
- Attend internal and external meetings to support reviews.
- Manage own objectives and contribute to team delivery.
- Collaborate with peers to ensure team-wide delivery.
- Maintain high personal productivity and accuracy across objectives.
- Train and mentor new staff to enhance performance.
- Serve as a pensions expert with knowledge of overriding legislation.
- Work autonomously and make decisions within own area.
