Overview
In this role you will support clinical procurement within a strategic framework to drive value and cost improvements in clinical spend while safeguarding patient care.
You will collaborate with nurses, clinical staff and the Procurement Nurse Lead to optimise product selection and procurement projects across divisions.
The role focuses on aligning procurement with patient outcomes, policy guidelines and sustainable practices, delivering impact through data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimise product selection while maintaining quality
- Act as liaison between Procurement and clinical staff
- Lead divisional procurement projects within the annual work plan
- Build relationships with internal managers to maximise value without compromising care
- Present New Product Introduction and Optimisation projects at the Clinical Product Optimisation group (CPOG)
- Provide expert advice on procurement practices to staff at all levels
- Identify and secure commitment to purchasing plans or product formularies
- Support embedding procurement procedures and manage change through defined processes
- Identify risk areas and ensure they are managed and reported
- Participate in local, regional, or national collaborative initiatives
- Lead a portfolio of clinical projects and analyse data to underpin optimisation
- Analyse product usage, trends and supplier options with clinicians
- Promote governance and compliance with Trust policies across the Foundation Group
- Initiate clinical product evaluation projects referencing NICE and other guidelines
- Promote awareness of procurement functions within stock control and clinical concerns
- Address deviations from Trust Standing Financial Instructions and Procurement Policy
- Maintain professional registration and model Trust values
- Key requirements
- Significant, senior-level clinical or functional experience
- Extensive knowledge of one or more clinical specialties
- Experience in undertaking product evaluations with outcomes
- Proven ability to lead change management and/or networks delivering significant change (Desirable)
- Experience in critically evaluating clinical pathways and products using recognised methodologies (Desirable)
- Knowledge of supply chain functions and procurement for category-specific products
- Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear reports
- Proficient Excel data analysis and ability to present findings
- Experience managing cross-team projects and influencing stakeholders
- UK professional registration (NMC/HCPC or equivalent) and continuing professional development
- Leadership or management qualification or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of procurement procedures (Desirable)
- Experience writing for publication or research (Desirable)
- Understanding of infection prevention, health, safety and patient safety considerations (Essential)
