An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Leader to join the Neonatal Unit at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. We are looking for an experienced, motivated nurse to provide leadership and management for the Neonatal Unit, being responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality compassionate care. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will lead the team to deliver excellent clinical and emotional care to our patients and parents/carers.
Main duties of the job:
- The Ward Leader will provide professional leadership which enables the delivery of high quality, safe and person-centred care through the engagement and empowerment of others.
- Will be responsible for managing the clinical area/department in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective clinical care while ensuring the best use of available resources in line with area/ward/departmental budgets.
- Have responsibility for the workforce, service delivery, clinical quality and safety on the ward, thus ensuring that quality standards are met and performance achieved.
- Be responsible for the delivery and performance of all nursing and nursing support staff working on the ward, ensuring compliance with standards of care and treatment.
- Responsible for implementing the trusts core values of 'Leading the Chesterfield Way', ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice.
- Will also have responsibility for following through on issues and incidents on the ward/clinical area relating to infection control, complaints, patient feedback experience, by ensuring actions are taken, monitored and sustained.
- The Ward Leader will at all times act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery standards of conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives (2015).

- Essential: RN/RSCN with extensive nursing experience in Neonatal care
- Qualified in Neonatal Specialist Care
- Health related First Degree or equivalent experience
- Evidence of ongoing professional training and development including relevant teaching course
- Desirable: Formal Management Qualification, Health related Masters Degree
- Experience:
- Essential: Proven ability of leading team, Relevant operational management experience, Clinically credible in specialism, Evidence of achievement in previous roles, Experience of clinical risk issues, Experience supporting families and staff through child safeguarding issues
