Overview
As a Consultant in the Maternity and Gynaecology Care Unit, you will support personalised, high-quality antenatal care near home. You will lead and advise on service delivery, collaborate with a 15-person team, and provide care for high-risk pregnancies and emergency presentations. The role combines clinical leadership with expansion of services across North Derbyshire. You will have scope to develop special interests and contribute to scanning and advanced obstetric care.

Responsibilities
- Provide antenatal and emergency care within Maternity and Gynaecology
- Deliver clinical leadership and guidance to the team
- Coordinate efficient running of services and care pathways
- Support high-risk obstetrics and feto-metalial care initiatives
- Engage in teaching, CPD, and clinical governance
- Collaborate with referral centres and clinical networks
- Participate in quality and audit projects
- Mentor and train junior staff where applicable
- Support development of scanning skills to complement special interests
- Work flexibly across service areas as needed
Key requirements
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- SITM in pregnancy care or equivalent advanced training in antenatal care
- Full GMC registration or eligible for entry on the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (recognised by PMETB/GMC)
