Overview
In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of psychiatry services across the Trust’s footprint. You will work with a large team of consultant colleagues and participate in the on-call rota, shaping clinical care and service plans. You will supervise junior medical staff, handle administrative duties, and contribute to appraisal and CPD activities. The position supports organisational transformation within a compassionate, person-centred NHS environment.

Responsibilities
- supervise and appraise junior medical staff and assess competencies under MMC framework
- manage administrative duties related to patient care
- accurately record and report clinical activity to Information Department
- participate in locality-wide and service-wide planning and development
- participate in annual consultant appraisal
- engage with the Trust CPD programme and academic activities
- maintain GMC registration, MHA/MCA duties compliance, and professional conduct
- participate in job plan reviews with clinical managers to adapt to service changes
- collaborate with local managers to ensure efficient service delivery
Key requirements
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully GMC registered with licence to practise
- Included on GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
- Approved clinician status OR achievable within 3 months
- Approved under S12 OR achievable within 3 months
- Excellent communication in English; ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Demonstrated knowledge of working with the patient cohort and bio-psycho-social approach
