Overview

In this role, you join the Clinical Measurements team to support ECG and ambulatory monitoring services across multiple sites. You’ll perform ECGs, fit ambulatory monitors, and handle some administrative tasks, contributing to a growing cardiac service. You’ll work closely with the Cardiovascular investigations team to deliver timely, accurate tests for adults and children. The position offers training and development within a supportive NHS environment, with opportunities to impact patient care across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ECG recordings for adults, paediatrics, outpatients, and inpatients across multiple departments
  • Set up, fit, and instruct patients on ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitors, and download recordings for analysis
  • Prioritise and manage inpatient ECG/ambulatory monitor requests and report volumes to senior staff
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in ECG and ambulatory monitoring with supervision
  • Work towards SCST Part I certification in ECG
  • Maintain personal professional development and ensure mandatory training is up to date
  • Communicate efficiently by telephone, register attendances, and manage clinic systems (Cerner, CRIS, Solus, PRISM)
  • Assist with quality assurance, audits, stock control, and general clerical duties
  • Contribute to organisation and performance of the ECG service across cross-site work
  • Demonstrate leadership and act as a role model to junior staff and students

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in a Cardiology department and physiological measurements
  • Experience in patient contact with adults and paediatrics; competent in non-invasive cardiac physiology tests
  • Able to perform ECG, Holter, and Ambulatory BP monitoring; knowledge of ECG interpretation and rhythm recognition
  • NHS experience desirable; Cerner/Millennium EPR and Solus experience desirable
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively; good communication and IT skills
  • Willingness to work cross-site, extended hours, weekends, and with infectious patients
  • Basic IT/computer literacy and BLS skills; SCST certification desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Empathetic approach to staff and patients
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergencies
