Main duties of the job
- Deliver high-quality clinical, educational and managerial services at Consultant level.
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management.

- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, MDT meetings, day unit and anticoagulation services.

Job responsibilities
The Consultant Haematologist will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across Ashford & St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Surrey County Hospital. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions. The role combines clinical leadership, direct patient care, teaching, research and service development, supporting a modern, integrated haematology service.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties
- Provide expert clinical care across inpatient, outpatient and day unit settings, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients.
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and laboratory services.
- Deliver senior clinical decision-making, including triaging referrals, reviewing potential admissions and ensuring timely investigations and management plans.
- Provide specialist advice to colleagues across other specialties and contribute to shared patient care.
- Maintain continuity of care, including safe and effective patient handover.
- On-Call and Service Delivery
- Participate in the consultant on-call rota, providing senior cover and support for acute haematology services.
