Would you like to work as an Authorised Pharmacist for a brand-new state of the art Section 10 Aseptic Services Unit? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist to join us as a Senior Aseptic Services Pharmacist. At Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GWH) we have a clear commitment to transform our aseptic service provision into a patient centred, resilient and reactive service which will support the national agenda for Aseptic Services Transformation. Currently in the initial stages of opening, one new Section 10 cleanroom has recently opened with a second to open soon to support the delivery of high cost, short expiry, agile chemotherapy provision, clinical trials and future unmet patient need. This is a unique opportunity to be part of implementing a new aseptic service from the ground up.
Main duties of the job:
- Act as an Authorised Pharmacist for the day-to-day supervision of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit (PASU) to ensure all products prepared and released are in compliance with Department Standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
- Work with the Accountable pharmacist to ensure, maintain and develop facilities, equipment and work practices to achieve the highest technical standards.
- To work closely with the pharmacy aseptic services technical team and pharmacy cancer team to co-ordinate treatment provision to the Day Therapy Unit, haematology inpatient unit and other medical wards requiring high risk injectable medicines.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications:
- Essential: Member of General Pharmaceutical Council, Masters Degree in Pharmacy.
- Desirable: Post qualification in either aseptic services (e.g. Pharmaceutical Technology Quality Assurance) or clinical (e.g. Clinical Diploma), Quality risk management training, Change management training.
- Experience:
- Essential: Experience of working in hospital pharmacy, Experience of working within pharmacy aseptic services operating under Section 10 exemption of the Medicines Act 1968, Awareness of legislation and standards relating to Good Manufacturing Practice, Clinical Pharmacy: demonstrate a core knowledge of therapeutics and pharmacology, Demonstrate an appropriate level of clinical reasoning and judgement, Demonstrate the ability to problem solve, Demonstrates awareness of current NHS agenda, Ability to identify and prioritise work and manage time appropriately to meet deadlines, Demonstrate understanding of legislation that applies to hospital pharmacy practice.
