Overview
In this role you will lead the planning, development and rollout of the Head and Neck Rapid Diagnostic Centre across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. You will drive cancer pathway redesign and service transformation, working with clinical, operational, and corporate teams to improve timely diagnosis and patient experience. You will coordinate across acute, community, and primary care partners to ensure equitable, efficient pathways aligned with national guidance and local priorities. The role emphasizes programme leadership, benefits realisation, and sustainable change.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development and implementation of the Head and Neck RDC across MSE
- Drive service redesign and pathway improvement
- Coordinate cross‑organisational collaboration with clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders
- Ensure alignment with national guidance and local strategic priorities
- Oversee performance improvement and benefits realisation
- Support engagement with acute, community and primary care partners to deliver equitable diagnostics
- Provide project and programme leadership across complex transformation programmes
- Deliver changes within challenging timescales
Key requirements
- Significant senior management experience within the NHS or a similarly complex healthcare environment
- Experience of leading service redesign, pathway improvement, transformation or operational change across complex services
- Strong understanding of cancer services, cancer performance standards, waiting times and early diagnosis priorities
- MSc level study or equivalent (or equivalent professional qualifications)
- Current UK professional registration (per NHS recruitment requirements)
- Project management and/or change management capability (Desirable: project management qualification)
