The MHST delivers evidence-based individual and group interventions in educational settings for children aged 5 to 18 years experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The teams focus on whole school approaches to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people.
The South East Essex MHST covers a large geographical area, including Southend, Castlepoint, Rochford, and Canvey Island. We are an early intervention and prevention service, supportive and passionate about our work. We encourage a healthy work-life balance and consider flexible working applications. Continual Professional Development (CPD) is encouraged, and we support our staff to grow and progress.
We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner with a UK Professional Registration to join our MHST. In this role, you will be a senior clinical team member, holding a clinical caseload and supervising junior staff and trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs). You will work alongside partner agencies to develop training materials and support the delivery of whole school approach models for mental health.
- Work in partnership with schools, children and young people (CYP), and families to develop intervention plans and agreed outcomes.
- Support the Locality Clinical Lead with formulation and management plans using a range of specialist psychological interventions.
- Effectively manage a caseload of CYP with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, completing assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and reviews.
- Provide caseload management and supervision to Trainee EMHPs and Senior Mental Health Practitioners.
- Support in the delivery of evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
- Work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team within your locality.
The successful applicant will be enrolled in the Children and Young People's Mental Health and Wellbeing Services supervisor course, funded as part of the MHST program. New starters will undergo a comprehensive induction, including mandatory training and systems training.
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless currently partway through a probationary period or a bank member of staff.
Joining #TeamNELFT means becoming part of a welcoming and supportive environment. NELFT is CQC rated Good and aims for an Outstanding rating. We provide community and mental healthcare services to adults and children across North East London and Essex.
We seek Supervisors to support the supervision of EMHPs within the MHSTs. Post holders must have a good understanding of CBT and clinically practiced using this model. The Senior Clinician will ideally have formal CBT training or substantial CAMHS clinical experience.
Applicants need to be fully registered/accredited with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g., HCPC, NMC, BABCP). This role is predominantly supervisory but will also involve delivering clinical interventions to maintain professional registrations and continue development.
This role appeals to clinicians who want to lead and influence practice while staying clinically grounded, offering the opportunity to supervise and develop EMHPs and shape high-quality, evidence-based interventions.
