Overview
In this psychology-led role within the Older Adult Mental Health Service, you will apply specialist psychology to support people living with dementia and related needs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure psychological thinking informs care and service development. You will contribute to dementia pathways, research, and quality improvement, shaping better outcomes across primary and secondary care. This role offers opportunities to develop expertise, supervise others, and influence ageing and dementia services. You will be supported to grow your practice and build a meaningful, rights-based impact from day one.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions for older adults with dementia and complex emotional/behavioural needs
- Collaborate with individuals, families and staff to keep psychological thinking central to care
- Work with occupational therapy, dietetics, SLT, nursing, and research colleagues to develop psychologically informed approaches
- Contribute to development and evaluation of dementia pathways across settings and to research and workforce development
- Engage in supervision, mentorship and continuing professional development to grow clinical, systemic, leadership and research skills
- Champion rights, inclusion and innovative service design in ageing and dementia
Key requirements
- Doctoral level training in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Knowledge of clinical assessment, formulation, and psychological treatments across core specialties (adult mental health, older adults, etc.)
- Experience delivering psychological interventions in multidisciplinary settings and with diverse client groups
- Experience in teaching, training or supervision
- Desirable: neuropsychology assessments; experience in physical health conditions
