Salaried GP in Carlisle

We are looking for either part or full time Salaried GPs to join our team in Workington. We are seeking professional and motivated GPs who are committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care.

Main duties of the job:

• Undertake a varied range of clinical duties, including face-to-face and telephone consultations, Duty Doctor and Triage GP sessions, and home visits.
• Undertake clinical administration, including reviewing and actioning pathology results, issuing fit notes and managing clinical documents.
• Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referral or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
• Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health.
• Provide counselling and health education.
• Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
• Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Compile and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
• Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Person Specification:

• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and inclusion on the NHS England Performers List; with evidence of up-to-date clinical practice and commitment to high standards of patient care.

• This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
