Overview
In this role you will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them access GP services and related healthcare. You will handle calls, bookings, referrals, and information flow with a focus on confidentiality and compassionate service. You’ll work within a busy practice to connect patients with the right care, supported by training and a patient-centred culture. This is an opportunity to shape patient access in a community NHS setting and collaborate across clinical and administrative teams.

Responsibilities
- Being the first point of contact for patients
- Handling telephone, face-to-face and electronic enquiries
- Booking and arranging patient appointments/clinics
- Liaising with GPs, clinicians, administrative staff and patients
- Contacting patients with information from the clinical team
- Helping patients access GP services and appropriate services in the wider community
- Referring patients where appropriate
- Filing, coding and general administrative work
- Working with practice procedures and processes
- Providing a friendly, professional and compassionate service to patients
Key requirements
- GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths
- Experience in working in a GP Practice (desirable)
- Previous GP experience is preferred but not essential
- Good IT knowledge
- Experience with EMIS Web (desirable)
- Docman and coding experience (desirable)
- Strong organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a busy and demanding environment
